GENESIS 1:31
As a primary school pupil, each time I did a task well, my teacher would always comment with the words “good” or “very good.” The second (very good) was meant for an excellent performance (at least ninety percent and above).
Science tells us that the Earth happens to lie within the “Goldilocks zone.” This is a zone around the sun that is habitable – where the temperature is just right for liquid water to exist on the planet. Thus it is not too hot (where all the water would evaporate, as on Venus) and not too cold (where everything would freeze, as on Mars). Liquid water is essential for life as we know it. Where we find liquid water on Earth we also find life.
The Earth is also just the right size to generate the right amount of gravity. Less would make everything weightlessly sterile (like our moon), while more gravity would trap poisonous gases that choke life (as on Jupiter).
The complex physical, chemical, and biological interplay that make up our world carry the stamp of a sophisticated Designer – God. And everything He created was “very good” – excellent; fine; great; outstanding; brilliant.
Does the amazing creation of God move us to praise Him today?
Thank You, Creator God, for this elaborate world You designed for us!
