JUDE 1:3
Jude was concerned because the Christian message of the gospel was under attack from false teachers who were spreading dangerous heresies. He urged his readers to contend for the faith against those who seek to undermine and destroy it. Like an athlete striving with extreme intensity to win the victory in a competition, they must contend.
The faith entrusted to us for which we must contend is grounded in Jesus Christ. He is the Saviour, the Son of God (Matthew 16:16), He is God with us (Matthew 1:23), He is the Word, He is God made flesh (John 1:1–18). People may want to suppress these truths even today, but by our teaching and living we should express them.
