Have you ever read the classic children’s novel, Alice in Wonderland? The Queen of Hearts is an interesting character. She changes from pleasant to enraged every other minute. At the slightest mistakes, she gives the order, “Off with their heads!” It seems ordering executions was one of her hobbies. However, very few persons were actually beheaded. The King of Hearts quietly pardoned many of his subjects.
This story makes one wonder about how people see God. Do they view Him as a quick-to-judge King who enjoys dishing out punishment like the Queen of Hearts? Or do they see Him as the kind King of Hearts who pardons the offenses of His subjects?
The God I know and love is a King of Hearts. Despite all our failures, He pardons us. He is not more after punishing the sinner, but punishing the sin.
I pray we all see God as He is.
