MATTHEW 5:38-45
“Revenge is sweet” in the world’s view. It seems human to retaliate when someone wrongs us. People gain pleasure sometimes from just planning revenge, even if they never carry it out. This is not only a waste of time and mental energy, but, more importantly, downright wrong.
For us as God’s children, revenge is not the way, but vengeance from God Himself – we allow God have His way and carry out any justified punishment, or show mercy. (Romans 12:17-19; Proverbs 20:22; Leviticus 19:18)
