LUKE 24:13-31
Most of us experience times when our spirits are low. Usually, it is when we have faced something that stretches us to the maximum, and we find ourselves in a kind of survival mode, just trying to hang on. Our faith may still be firm, but we know the spiritual fire is getting weak.
We read in Luke 24 how the disciples had just come through a period of trauma, having watched the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus. Talk about survival mode! Even though they were told that He was alive, they were still focusing on the experience that dampened their spirits. Then Jesus came on the scene. He spoke the word of life to them. He knew their hearts needed refreshing, so He opened the scriptures to them and their souls were flooded once again with His light! Their hearts started burning again!
