LEVITICUS 19:18A; JOHN 4:9 & 27
Loving others was not new for the disciples. They must have known the scripture – “…you shall love your neighbour as yourself…”
Yet the way Jesus loved revealed their shallow view on what it looks like to love others. He loved the tax collectors, prostitutes, Roman oppressors, Samaritans, to mention but a few.
Jesus showed us a love that is not convenient. One that is extended without expectation of reciprocation. A love that intentionally seeks out those who society, and sometimes religion, have deemed unlovable.
His disciples and the Samaritan woman marveled at such love. It is this type of love that will also cause the world to marvel and acknowledge the work of God in our lives.
