WHERE HE LEADS, FOLLOW

1 KINGS 19:19-21

I enjoy hearing from missionaries at church functions. They inspire me because they are willing to leave their families, friends, and sometimes even their homes and careers in order to serve God in unusual and even hazardous locations.

Elisha, like those missionaries, abandoned everything in order to serve God (1 Kings 19:19-21). When the prophet Elijah approached him in his field, he placed his cloak over Elisha’s shoulders (the symbol of his role as prophet). Elisha gave up his oxen, torched his farm equipment, said his goodbyes to his parents, and left to join Elijah.

Although only some of us will have to leave our families and friends to serve God, He desires that we all follow Him and live as Christians in whatever position He has placed us. No matter where we are – even if we never leave our homes – serving God is always fascinating and demanding.

Wherever we are, God will show us how to serve Him.

🙏🏼 Lead us to serve You in faith and love.
