JOHN 6:27, 35
Food is a necessity, food is a pleasurable, food is a matter of personal taste or preference. Food is a human right (that is still not enshrined in many constitutions). Food is much more than a private matter, because the choices we make regarding food consumption has direct or indirect consequences on the lives of others, not just ourselves only.
It is wise for us to watch our food intake if we want to remain physically healthy. The same applies spiritually too.
Paul said he disciplined his body like an athlete, training it to do what it should, because he feared that after preaching to others, he might be disqualified (1 Cor.9:27). Part of the discipline an athlete gets involved in is minding his/her food intake.
Paul knew Jesus was the bread of our daily life. We can have as much of Him as we like. But if we neglect our daily intake, we may find ourselves malnourished, and therefore, a poor example to others.
I hope we will begin today to pay attention to what we consume (spiritually). I promise, when we choose Jesus, we will be satisfied.
