ROMANS 12:13
In 1987, a pastor and his family relocated to California to take over a church’s pastorate. They were picked up from the airport the day they arrived in town. The first thing he noticed as they drew into traffic was a bumper sticker that said, “Welcome to California… Now Go Home!” It was not exactly a cheerful and pleasant welcome!
I wonder if there are times in our lives when we give out similar signals to those around us. Are there times when we fail to make others feel welcome in our society, whether it is at church, in the neighbourhood, or at social gatherings?
Paul tells his readers in our text to be hospitable. We reflect the Saviour’s call to salvation by exhibiting gracious kindness to those who come our way.
Providing genuine hospitality to someone could be the first step toward pointing that person in the direction of heaven.
🙏🏼Lord, may we give as we have been given; may we love as You have loved us; may we be the helpers the helpless require; may we remain true to our mission.
