THE PERPETUAL STEW

HABAKKUK 2:3

A perpetual stew, also known as hunter’s pot or hunter’s stew, refers to the age-old practice of keeping a pot of soup simmering for a very long time by adding ingredients like meat, vegetables, and liquids to the broth after short intervals. The concept is from medieval inns. The flavour of the perpetual stew may improve with age.

Wattana Panich, a popular restaurant in Bangkok serves soup from a perpetual stew that has been cooking for up to forty-five years and is replenished a bit each day. The restaurant has won multiple awards for their most delicious soup in Thailand.

Good things often take time, but our human nature struggles with patience.

Some of God’s best blessings may be long in coming. Though they linger, we need to keep looking to Him! He prepares every blessing with perfect wisdom and care, like the perpetual stew – and He is worth waiting for.

Dear Father, grant us the patience to wait for Your promises, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
