In 1974, US President Richard Nixon resigned after the Watergate scandal exposed actions that contradicted his public image. Hidden conduct eventually came to light. Hypocrisy works the same way; a false appearance may deceive people for a time, but truth will eventually expose it.
In Galatians 2:11-21, Paul openly challenged Peter for acting hypocritically. Peter freely associated with Gentile believers until certain Jewish visitors arrived, after which he withdrew from them out of fear. His inconsistency misled others, including Barnabas. Paul reminded him that acceptance before God comes through faith in Christ, not through outward appearances or human approval.
As Christians, our conduct should match our confession. Whether in public or private, we must stand firmly for the truth of the gospel and avoid actions that mislead others. A sincere and consistent life strengthens fellow believers and honours Christ.
🙏May God grant you grace to walk sincerely and faithfully.
