PSALM 23
My wife was in labour for more than 24 hours when our first child was born and it caused enormous stress for both her and the baby. The doctor planned an emergency Caesarean section, but it never happened. Soon after his decision, the baby arrived. But due to the fact that he came out with his legs, he had a bone dislocation.
The baby survived by God’s grace, but I cannot really remember a time in my life when I was more terrified than when I stood outside the delivery room. Nonetheless, I sensed the presence of the Lord when I spoke with with Him in prayer.
Nothing can offer solace to the broken or frightened heart like the reality of God’s presence and care in the troubling times of life (and other moments as well). “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me,” wrote the psalmist David (Psalm 23:4).
The Lord is present when fear is overwhelming. Our greatest trials shall be carried by His comforting presence.
🙏🏼 Thank You Lord for Your presence that gives us peace.
