MATTHEW 25:14-21
James and Joan have been married for more than 60 years, and they are both in their mid-nineties. The fact that they are no longer capable of participating actively in the life and activities of their church has caused sadness in both of them.
Nevertheless, and they continue to labour diligently for the Lord by praying endlessly. They are loyal “behind the scenes” in their work for Him, even if they might not always be physically present and apparent in the activity of their church.
We are reminded to use the “talents” God has given us wisely by the story of the talents in Matthew 25. We must not bury what He has given us because each of us has been given skills and abilities at varying levels.
God will engage us at all stages of life – youth, old age, sickness, and weakness – not only during our strongest years. James and Joan keep on serving by praying. And like them, we honour our Master by employing our talents – each in accordance with his or her individual capacity to serve Him who is deserving.
God can use us at any age or time – if we are willing.
