ZEPHANIAH 2:1–7
In many African villages, wise homeowners repair a leaking roof before the rainy season begins. Waiting until the storms arrive often leads to greater damage and regret. In the same way, God warned Judah to repent before His judgement fell upon the nation.
Through Zephaniah (Zephaniah 2:1–7), the Lord called His people to gather together, seek righteousness, and humble themselves before Him. Although Judah had persistently sinned, God mercifully gave them an opportunity to turn from their wicked ways before the day of His anger arrived.
God’s warnings are acts of love. He gives us time to examine our hearts, forsake sin, and return to Him. Rather than delaying repentance, we should respond today. Those who seek the Lord in humility and obedience will discover His mercy and the safety found in Christ.
