PSALM 115
According to a speaker and author, many owners of cellphones now consider them to be their best friends. After conducting an MRI experiment, he found that when phones rang, people’s brains lit up with neurons in the region linked to feelings of love and compassion. It was as though they were with a lover, boyfriend, or member of their family, he claimed.
There are many things competing for our love, time, and attention, and it feels like we constantly need to consider where we are placing our priorities. Joshua instructed the Israelites to devote all of their love and worship to God (Joshua 24:14). In contrast to the idols that the people around worshiped, this was noteworthy. These idols were created by men (Psalm 115:4). Compared to the Lord, they were completely powerless. As a result, God’s people were urged to put their trust in Him alone and not in other gods.
Our only help and defense comes from the Lord (Ps. 115:9). May we save our love for Him.
🙏🏼 Lord, may our affections be directed toward You. Please keep our love from wandering aimlessly.
