JOHN 14:23–31
The first time Mark visited the Chora Church in Istanbul, he learnt some Bible stories from the Byzantine frescos and mosaics. However, he missed some details. A guide helped him understand these details, making everything clear. For instance, the first aisle depicts Jesus’ life as recorded in the gospel of Luke.
Jesus’ followers were unable to see the picture when He said in John 14:23–31 that He would give them His Spirit to reveal all they needed to know. It was still only words when He spoke of obedience, love, and the Spirit who would help them make sense of it all.
Like the guide at the Church in Istanbul, the Holy Spirit serves as our guide in understanding the connections between Scripture and its perfect story. Through His teachings, we can appreciate the wonders of God’s written revelation.
How wonderful to have the Author of the Bible to show us the wonders in it!
🙏 Dear Lord, as men read your Word, open their eyes that they may discover the wonders in it.
