LESSON FROM THE MISSING MONEY

EPHESIANS 4:25-32

My friend noticed that money was mysteriously missing from his wallet, he was very angry. But then he found out that his son was the one who stole the money, his anger quickly turned to grief. One use of the word grief is to describe the pain we feel when those we love let us down.

We are told in Ephesians 4:30 not to grieve the Holy Spirit. It basically means not to hurt the One who loves us and is there to help us. We read the words of Jesus in John 14:26 that the Holy Spirit would be sent to us by the Father to be our Help.

When the Holy Spirit within us is grieved by our actions or our attitudes, the result can be tremendous stress. The spirit pushes us in one direction, but the desires of the flesh push us in another (Galatians 5:17). If this continues, we may start to feel guilty and dissatisfied with life. Soon the joy and strength in us may fade away, to be replaced by apathy and lethargy.

So do not grieve the Holy Spirit who was lovingly given to you to help you.

🙏Holy Spirit, dwell within my heart; pull down every idol, reign supreme and reign alone. Amen.
