KNOWN BY NAME

LUKE 19:1-10

A school principal vowed to know the names of all 600 of her students. Anyone with doubts about her capability or resolve should review her background. She remembered the names of 700 students throughout the previous academic year and 400 students from a different school. Consider how much it must have meant to such students to be called by name and recognized.

The encounter between Zacchaeus and Jesus (Luke 19:1–10) features an unexpected instance of personal recognition. Jesus addressed Zacchaeus by name rather than passing him by or saying, “Hey, you in the tree.” His life started to change at that point.

When it appears that nobody is interested in you or knows who you are, think of Jesus. He is familiar with us by name and desires that we get to know Him personally. Our heavenly Father cares about every aspect of our lives and sees us through His loving eyes.

🙏Lord Jesus, thank You that our value in Your eyes is not

determined by others.
