1 PETER 4:12-13
Life, like a golf course, is full of hazards.
Hazards are areas of a golf course which provides difficult obstacles for the golfer to negotiate. It may be water hazards such as lakes and rivers, man-made hazards such as bunkers, and natural hazards such as trees or thick vegetation. They are part of the game.
Bypassing hazards in life would not do anyone a favour. Every challenge creates a capacity to handle it.
It should not come as a surprise to us that God permits the added trials of being ridiculed and hated because we follow Christ (1 Peter 4:12). But whether it is common to man or unique to Christians, every challenge can reveal to us the moral fiber of our soul.
The trials that we face each day reveal how much we need the Lord. They test our faith and strength of will and help us to trust God’s Word.
Great triumphs are born out of great trials.
When our hearts are cast down by trials, Lord Jesus, help us and make us joyful. Amen.
