IN SEARCH OF REFUGE

PROVERBS 18:10

People would attend to their farms until an invader loomed on the horizon in the medieval era. Then they and their relatives would flee to the walled city for safety from the invaders.

For years, the French city of Carcassonne served as a refuge. This stone fortress, which dates back to the 5th century BC, has protected Romans, Gauls, Visigoths, Franks, and French. Its vast size, towering watchtowers, and battlements instilled courage in people who sought refuge within its protective walls.

We can seek refuge in the living God as Christians.

At times, we all confront threats that make us want to flee. Some people seek safety in their possessions or in their relationships. The Christian, on the other hand, has a more solid stronghold. Our best safety ultimately rests in God because of who He is and what He can do for us. If you are currently under attack, turn to the Lord, who is a strong tower. In His hands, you will find refuge.

God is our place of refuge in both good and bad times.

🙏🏼Lord, may we always find You, the Refuge of our souls, in the midst of our greatest battles.
