HOME SWEET HOME

JOHN 14:1-14

His son asked why they had to leave their home and move. It is difficult to explain to a five-year-old. They were leaving their house, not their home. Home can be anywhere our loved ones are, and we long to return after long trips or work.

Before Jesus’ death, He reassured His disciples of His presence and reminded them of His return. He explained that he would be preparing a place for them in His Father’s house, not an unfamiliar or uncomfortable place, but a place where they would see Him, their loved One.

Our Father provides us with some pleasant inns along the way, but He will not encourage us to think of them as home, according to C. S. Lewis. Even if we are grateful for the “pleasant inns” in this life, we must keep in mind that heaven is where we will be with the Lord forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

🙏 Dear Lord, thank You for heaven, Your people’s eternal home.
