1 KINGS 1:1–10
A young tree grows straight when it is supported early. In the same way, children need loving guidance and correction before wrong habits take root.
In 1 Kings 1:1–10, Adonijah boldly attempted to make himself king while David was still alive. His behaviour reflected a failure of parental correction, as David failed in rebuking him or asking why he acted wrongly. Scripture therefore reveals the importance of timely parental guidance.
Parents should lovingly correct wrong behaviour rather than ignore it. Discipline should teach, not merely punish. Through consistent correction, godly instruction and a good example, parents can help their children develop wisdom, self-control and respect for authority.
🙏 May the Lord grant you wisdom, patience and grace to guide your children or those under your care in His ways. Amen.
