1 THESSALONIANS 5:12–28
In 2013, Nigeria’s Super Eagles won the Africa Cup of Nations after carefully following their coach’s instructions throughout the tournament. Success often depends on obeying wise guidance. Likewise, God gives us instructions to help us live faithfully and fruitfully.
Paul instructs believers to honour spiritual leaders, live peacefully, encourage the discouraged, support the weak and be patient. He also commands us to rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks, test everything and hold firmly to what is good.
We must not merely hear God’s instructions but practise them. Let us obey His Word, encourage others, remain thankful in difficult circumstances and allow the Holy Spirit to work freely in our lives.
