JOHN 16:23–33
On Rogation Sunday, believers seek God’s blessing on their work and sustenance. In rural England, it was once common for clergy and farmers to walk the fields, praying for fruitful harvests. These simple processions showed a deep trust in God’s provision despite uncertain weather and outcomes.
In John 16:23–33, Jesus assures His disciples that they can ask the Father in His name and receive. Though He speaks of trials, He offers peace and declares that He has overcome the world, giving believers confidence in every situation.
Today, like those who prayed over their fields, we must commit our work, plans, and needs to God. Challenges will come, but Christ’s victory assures us that our labour is not in vain. As we pray and persevere, we rest in His power to provide and sustain us.
🙏May God bless your labour with fruitful increase, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
