DESIRE TO GROW

1 PETER 1:22–2:3

Babies, a 2010 documentary film, follows four infants born in Namibia, Mongolia, Tokyo, and San Francisco, all of whom were born into quite different situations. Whenever they were joyful, they cooed and laughed; if they were hurt or hungry, they cried. And they all liked milk! The film’s charm stems from watching them grow.

Followers of Christ should seek the pure milk of the Word that promotes their spiritual growth, just as a baby craves milk. (1 Peter 2:2) Peter wrote to encourage a group of Christ-followers who had become dispersed as a result of persecution. He exhorted them to put aside sentiments of enmity and envy toward one another, as well as talking one way and living another, and to crave the pure milk of the Word, as newborn babes do, so that they would grow.

The Lord invites us to drink from His abundant supply as much as we need. He enjoys watching His children grow!

We grow as we dig deeper into God’s Word.

🙏🏼Grant us a burning desire to drink deeply from Your Word, Lord. Transform us to be people who, in everything we say and do, resemble You.
