PSALM 121
One of the tallest statues of Christ in the world, Christ the Redeemer, is located on the Corcovado Mountain above Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Almost every location in the city offers a good view of it, day or night. This figure of Christ the Redeemer is visible when one looks to the hills.
According to the Bible, Christ is not only the Redeemer but also the Creator of the universe. Psalm 121 is about this Creator. The psalmist therein exhorts us to lift our eyes to the hills to see God since the Lord, who made heaven and earth, is the One who helps us (vs.1-2). He alone is sufficient to sustain us and direct our steps as we traverse a perilous and unsettled world.
We raise our eyes in faith to the One who is both our Creator and Redeemer. He is our saviour, our source of hope, and our eternal home.
