MICAH 1:1–7
In September 2014, the six-storey guesthouse at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos collapsed, claiming 116 lives. The tragedy prompted investigations into the building’s structural integrity and served as a sobering reminder that ignoring or failing to address danger can have devastating consequences.
Micah 1:1–7 records God’s warning to Israel and Judah through the prophet Micah. Their idolatry and spiritual unfaithfulness had provoked God’s judgement, yet God graciously warned them before punishment came, giving them an opportunity to repent.
God still warns His people through His Word today. Rather than ignore His correction, we should confess our sins, turn from every form of compromise, and remain faithful to Christ. Those who respond to God’s warning find His mercy and grace.
