MATTHEW 5:4; REVELATION 21:1-4
Have you ever experienced a broken heart? What broke it? Brutality? Failure? Infidelity? Loss? Maybe you hid somewhere to cry.
It is good to cry. “Tears are the only cure for weeping,” said Scottish preacher George MacDonald. A little crying is good.
Research has shown that in addition to being self-soothing, crying releases oxytocin and endorphins. These chemicals make people feel good and may also ease both physical and emotional pain. In this way, crying can help reduce pain and promote a sense of well-being.
Jesus wept at the grave of His friend Lazarus (John 11:35). Our tears attract the mercy and loving care of our Lord. He knows our restless, sleepless nights. His heart aches for us when we cry. He is the God of consolation, who comforts us in all our tribulations (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) and He uses His people to comfort one another.
But tears and our need for comfort come too often in this life. Current comfort is not the final answer. There is a future day when there will be no death, no pain, no tears, for all of these things will pass away (Revelation 21: 4). There in heaven, God will wipe away every tear. We are so dear to our Father that He will be the one who will wipe the tears from our eyes; He loves us so deeply and personally.
Remember, “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).
God cares and shares in our sorrow.
🙏 Thank You Lord for a land of no sorrow, a land of no fears, no death and no sickness, a land of no tears.
