WHEN FAMILIARITY BLINDS THE HEART

z

MATTHEW 13:53–58

A farmer may walk past a medicinal plant every day without recognising its value, simply because it grows in his backyard. Similarly, familiarity can make us overlook the blessings and wisdom God places within our reach.

In Matthew 13:53–58, the people of Nazareth rejected Jesus because they knew His family and humble background. Instead of recognising His wisdom and mighty works, they took offence at Him. Their unbelief hindered the mighty works He did among them.

Let us never allow familiarity to weaken our reverence for God, His Word, His ministers or the things dedicated to His service. Attend worship faithfully, respect spiritual leadership, and handle church resources responsibly. May we remain humble enough to recognise and receive God’s blessings, even through familiar people and ordinary circumstances.

🙏 May the Lord open your eyes to His blessings and give you a heart that honours Him always. Amen.
