JOHN 15:12–17
Archbishop Desmond Tutu, during South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, urged victims and perpetrators of apartheid to embrace forgiveness and restoration, modelling costly yet healing love that seeks unity over revenge.
John 15:12–17 records Jesus’ command that His disciples love one another as He has loved them. This sacrificial obedience marks believers as His friends and reveals Christ to the world.
Christians must practise this daily by forgiving offences, rejecting bitterness, and choosing unity over division. Such love reflects Jesus practically and brings healing to relationships within the church and beyond.
