MATTHEW 26:6–13
A young boy once spent all his savings to buy flowers for his mother after she had cared for him during illness. Some thought it unnecessary, yet to him she deserved the best. Love often expresses itself lavishly. In a similar way, God deserves our finest devotion.
When a woman poured costly perfume on Jesus. The disciples thought it was wasteful (Matthew 26:8), suggesting the money could help the poor. Yet Jesus defended her, declaring that her act of devotion would be remembered wherever the gospel is preached.
Many people may measure devotion by practicality or cost. Yet God looks at the heart. When we give Him our time, worship, resources, or obedience sacrificially, we show that Christ is our greatest treasure. True love for God never counts the cost.
