THE BLACKSMITH’S FIRE

LUKE 3:15–18

A village blacksmith heats iron until impurities burn away; only then can it be shaped for good use. The fire looks fierce, yet its purpose is restoration, not destruction.

As we read Luke 3:15–18, John promises a Messiah who baptises with the Holy Spirit and fire. Drawing on Malachi’s vision, this fire refines, judges, and prepares hearts (Malachi 3:1–3; 4:1) and this was fulfilled when God’s Spirit came with power and flame (Acts 2:1–4).

Today, the Spirit still works through uncomfortable moments—conviction, change, courage. God burns away pride and fear to form lives marked by love, joy, peace, and faithfulness in homes, workplaces, and communities.

🙏 May the Lord refine you gently by His Spirit and set your life on fire for Him. Amen.
