ROMANS 8:31–39; PSALM 106:1
In 2015, Paris removed forty-five tonnes of padlocks from Pont des Arts pedestrian bridge railings, a romantic gesture where couples etched their initials on locks, closed them, and threw the key into the River Seine.
The city, fearing the bridge’s safety, removed the “love locks” as the bridge could no longer bear the weight of so much love.
The locks symbolised everlasting love, but human love can be fickle. Friends may offend, family members may argue, and couples may drift apart.
The love of God is unfailing and everlasting, as proclaimed in Psalm 106:1. Scripture promises this unfailing nature, with the death of Jesus as the greatest proof. This love ensures eternal life for those who believe, and nothing will separate us from it.
We are locked into God’s love forever!
