PSALM 71:1–12
On September 11, 2001, Stanley Praimnath, working on the 81st floor of the World Trade Centre South Tower, saw an aeroplane approaching him. As he dove under a desk, he prayed for protection: “Lord, I can’t do this! You take over!”
Stanley was trapped behind a wall of debris. As he prayed and cried for help, Brian Clark, a worker from another office, heard and responded. They navigated 80 flights of stairs to the ground floor and out.
David sought God’s help in battle, seeking assurance of His nearness. In a heartfelt petition, he prayed for God to be his rock of refuge and to come quickly to help him as he faced formidable enemies.
We cannot be guaranteed deliverance from every challenging situation, but we can trust that God will hear our prayers and support us through them all.
