2 KINGS 6:8–17
John, a homeless man, spent a year looking down at the pavement, ashamed to meet others’ eyes in case they recognised him. He was intent on finding a dropped coin, which had become a habit, causing his spine bones to become fixed in that position, making it difficult for him to straighten up. His life had not always been lived on the streets.
Elisha’s servant was terrified by Aram’s massive army, but Elisha knew he was only seeing the danger and opposition. He needed to see the divine protection that surrounded them, which was far greater than anything Aram could bring against Elisha. This revelation helped him navigate the situation.
When life is challenging and under pressure, we often focus on our problems. Remember that Jesus endured immense suffering in our place and that by focusing on Him, we will be strengthened.
