RUTH 2:1-11
Ruth, a foreigner, widow, and poor woman, would be considered a nobody in many parts of the world today, with no hope for her future.
Ruth found favour from a wealthy relative of her deceased husband, Boaz, who owned the fields where she asked for permission to glean grain. She asked Boaz what she had done to deserve his kindness, but Boaz answered truthfully, citing Ruth’s good deeds towards her mother-in-law, Naomi, and her decision to leave her country and follow Naomi’s God. Boaz prayed for God’s blessing on Ruth, and when Boaz married Ruth, he became her protector and part of his prayer.
We, like Ruth, were foreigners and far from God, wondering why He chose to love us. The answer lies in Him, as He demonstrated His love by sending Christ to die for us while we were sinners. Christ has become our Redeemer, and when we come to Him, we are under His protective wings.
