DOING WHAT IS RIGHT IN GOD’S EYES

2 KINGS 12:1-15

“Cowboy builders” refer to tradespeople in British homes who perform poor construction, often associated with fear or regret due to bad experiences.

In King Joash’s story, honesty is demonstrated by those who supervised and did the temple repair, despite rogue carpenters, masons, and stonecutters who may have existed in biblical times.

King Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord when Jehoiada, the priest, instructed him. After Jehoiada’s death, Joash turned from the Lord and worshipped other gods.

The mixed legacy of a king who experienced fruitfulness only under the spiritual guidance of a godly priest raises questions about our own faith and future growth. Will we focus on modern-day idols like comfort, materialism, and self-promotion, or will we continue to develop and produce good fruit?
