WHEN TO WALK AWAY

GENESIS 39:1–12; 1 CORINTHIANS 10:13

Jude’s conversion to Christianity in his old age was a fascinating example of overcoming temptation. He would walk away from disagreements, like a neighbour’s quarrel, to avoid being tempted to advance the conflict.

Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife’s temptation, realising it would lead to sin against God. He recognised the danger.

Temptation can arise from our desires or from situations and people. Paul tells the Corinthians that God is faithful and will not let them be tempted beyond their limits. He also provides a way out, which may involve removing or fleeing from temptation. Our best course of action may be to simply walk away.

🙏 Lord, please give us the wisdom and strength to know when to walk away from situations and people that tempt us to do wrong.
