MATTHEW 6:9-13
Father’s Day is observed in numerous places. However, for some people, the concept of paying tribute to their fathers brings up unpleasant or contentious memories.
Because of death or divorce, some people never knew their fathers. What is left over is sadness and a yearning for a connection that never materialised.
Some people have had fathers who were there but distant; by remaining silent and never saying, “You are special,” they damaged their children’s hearts and self-esteem.
Some irrational, strong-willed fathers have spoken harsh words to their children that still hurt today.
Some people had flawed men for fathers, but they did the best they could. They put in a lot of effort for the family. They raised their family to be responsible citizens.
One father is deserving of unfettered honour. Our heavenly Father is the ideal role model for fathers on earth. He is capable and caring, firm and kind, corrective and pardoning. No Hallmark card can adequately convey how valuable He is. This Father, who came in the form of Jesus Christ in the flesh to restore both our individual and collective brokenness, came to shine light into every dark recess of the human heart.
🙏🏻 Thank You, Father, for giving us fathers. Make them real fathers.
