REFUSE APATHY

NEHEMIAH 1:1-10; MATTHEW 25:40

Some Indian women who are now residents of the United States still have concerns for their home country. They also responded after learning about the precarious financial status of an Indian Christian school for autistic children.

Being the cupbearer and confidant of the most powerful man in the country at the time did not make Nehemiah’s worries for his people less important. To learn about the state of the city and its residents, he spoke with individuals who had recently returned from Jerusalem.

The heart of Nehemiah ached. He cried out to God, fasted, and pleaded for relief from the appalling circumstances. God made it possible for him to go back to Jerusalem and oversee the reconstruction process.

Nehemiah was able to do great deeds for his people because he trusted in and asked great things of a great God. May God assist us to see the needs of those around us and to develop into passionate, resourceful problem-solvers who are a blessing to others.
