Jesus has been portrayed in a great number of paintings throughout history. Because we do not have a picture or a mirror image of our Lord’s likeness, none of them can be considered authentic portraits. But in Isaiah 53, He is shown in a wonderful word picture. This divinely inspired description perfectly encapsulates who He is (Isaiah 53:4–5).
These verses give us a glimpse of Jesus’ face, showing us His love, sadness, and agony. His lips do not accuse or condemn. Only our sins must be endured by Him; He had none.
What an image of our Lord!
