LUKE 22:54-65
There are always at least two levels of hurt when I hear stories of people who have been bullied or of women or men who have been physically abused by their partners. The first, and most obvious, is due to the cruelty of the people who are committing the deed. That is bad on its own. The silence of others, though, causes a second, more profound hurt that can end up being much more harmful than the first.
Being a victim is painful. It is therefore crucial to speak out against the action and stand up for others (see Proverbs 31:8a).
Jesus had firsthand experience with both abuse and being abandoned to suffer in isolation. He was detained without reason, beaten, and ridiculed (Luke 22:63-65). Others might not entirely comprehend, but He does.
We can pray to Him for the strength to speak out when we observe someone else being hurt.
A bold Christian’s voice is an echo of God’s voice.
🙏🏻 Lord, help us to speak for others.
HAPPY MOTHERING SUNDAY 😊
