2 CHRONICLES 17:1-11
“Wealth scares me!” declared a successful Christian businessman. “I have learned a lesson from Solomon’s verdict on the abundance of wealth. “It is all meaningless.” He was determined not to let his wealth interfere with his devotion to God. Rather, he desired to use his resources to serve God and assist the poor.
God has materially blessed people throughout the centuries. According to 2 Chronicles 17:5, the Lord established the kingdom so that Jehoshaphat had great wealth and honour. He did not become arrogant or bully others because of his wealth. Instead, his heart was set on the Lord’s ways (v. 6).
The Lord is not opposed to wealth because He has blessed many with it, but He is definitely against its unethical acquisition and wrong use. He is worthy of devotion from all His followers.
🙏🏻Wealth or no wealth, we will be devoted to God.
