LOOK UP!

PSALM 121

Walking on flat surfaces has some health benefits, but if we choose a route that comprises hills or steep inclines, our results will be even better. Strength, stamina, and general health are improved more quickly for people who walk hills.

The Israelites sang the “Songs of Ascents” (Ps. 120–134) as they walked the road up to Jerusalem to take part in the three annual pilgrim festivals.

God is affirmed as our Helper and Protector in Psalm 121 (vv. 1–3, 4–8). The universe’s Creator (v. 2) helps us on our life’s path and provides us with the security and stability (v. 3) we require. God, who is our Keeper, is a watchful watchman who is constantly aware of the happenings in our lives since He never sleeps (v. 4). We may rest in safety and serenity because of this truth (Psalm 3:5; 4:8; Proverbs 3:24).

How crucial it is to have God in mind as we travel through life as our source of strength. It is okay to keep walking up the hill and to say out loud, “Look up,” when we are feeling overwhelmed and defeated.

🙏🏻We keep our eyes on You—our source of help.
