JOHN 11:32-44
When my friend’s mother passed away, I went to see him. Our conversation was easily drawn into a cycle of emotions as we talked, combining tears of sadness over her passing with laughter as we remembered what a kind and fun person she had been.
Many of us have gone from crying one minute to laughing the next, in a bizarre transition. It is a wonderful blessing that feelings of joy and grief can both lead to physical relief in this way.
The Lord Jesus must have had a wonderful sense of humour. When his friend Lazarus passed away, he also started to cry (John 11:33–35).
God records every tear we shed, and our capacity to communicate our feelings through tears is a gift (Psalm 56:8). But eventually, He will end all tears one day (Revelation 7:17).
🙏🏻 Thank You Lord for tears of joy and sorrow.
