MATTHEW 1:18-25
A new take on the Superman narrative was presented in the 2013 film Man of Steel. It brought people to movie theaters all over the world because of its spectacular special effects and nonstop action. Some claimed that the film’s impressive technology was the main factor in its attraction. Others highlighted the “Superman mythology’s” lasting attraction.
Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in the film, seems to have a different take on what appeals to people about Superman. “Who does not want to believe that there is one person who could come and save us from ourselves?” she asks in reference to a fundamental human desire.
That is a really good question. And the answer is that Jesus has already come to save us from our own selves.
To save us from our sin and from ourselves, Jesus came and did everything He did. His name means “the Lord saves,” and He set out to save us. Jesus eventually addresses the human heart’s desire for rescue.
