1 CHRONICLES 16:7-14
“If thanksgiving were a drug, it would be the world’s best-selling product with health benefits for every major organ system,” says a renowned Medical Center expert.
Some people define being thankful as simply having an attitude of gratitude; they take the time to appreciate and give attention to what they already have rather than what they desire. The concept of thankfulness is expanded upon in the Bible. We become aware of the One who provides us our blessings when we express our thankfulness (James 1:17).
David was aware that God was in charge of ensuring the ark of the covenant arrived in Jerusalem without incident (1 Chronicles 15:26). As a result, he wrote a song of thanksgiving that focused on God rather than just expressing his delight in a significant occasion.
Today, we can truly give thanks by praising the Giver rather than the things we already have. Our bodies may gain from focusing on the positive aspects of our existence, but our hearts profit more from giving thanks to God.
🙏🏻 Lord Jesus, make us thankful always.
