1 TIMOTHY 6:6-10
Fifty-two percent of traders, brokers, investment bankers, and other financial sector professionals responded to an online survey, and they either admitted to engaging in unlawful conduct or thought they might have to in order to succeed. These financial leaders “have lost their moral compass,” according to the survey’s findings, and “accept corporate wrongdoing as a necessary evil.”
The apostle Paul cautioned that some people had lost their way because of their love of money and desire to become wealthy while mentoring young Timothy. They had succumbed to many foolish and destructive desires and temptations (1 Timothy 6:9). Paul viewed “the love of money” (not actual money) as the root of all kinds of evil (v. 10), particularly the immorality of relying on money instead of Christ.
We can discover contentment in Christ rather than in material possessions as we come to understand that Christ is the source of everything we have. We will develop a desire to be faithful with what has been provided to us when we pursue godliness rather than wealth.
Let us consciously cultivate a spirit of gratitude toward God and obediently follow Him, for He is our Provider and will take good care of us.
🙏Father, it is easy to see the problem that others have with loving money. But we are aware that we also face similar challenges. We need Your help to develop gratitude.
