PSALM 37:23-24
The individual who discovers the direction in which God is moving and then follows it is blessed.
When we are faced with difficult situations, we frequently seek God’s direction. We are uncertain what will occur next, or whether God wants us to take action or relax. The only way to be certain is to do what He asks of us right now – the task at hand – and then wait for God to reveal the next step.
If we obey what we know, we will be strengthened to take the next step and the next. Let us take one step at a time. This is how we learn to follow the lead of God.
You may say, “If I take the first step, what is going to happen next?” That is God’s business. Your job and mine is to obey now and trust God with the future. Our ways are ordered by the Lord, according to the psalmist (Psalm 37:23). We only require the direction of the day. The instructions for tomorrow may be given later. We may be unable to comprehend the next page in God’s lesson book because we are only aware of the one in front of us. We may not be able to turn the leaf until we have learned the present lesson.
If we follow His guidance and warnings each day, if we walk by faith and go forth on the path of obedience, we shall discover that God is leading us.
