MARK 10:35-45
I read in a self-help book that it is better to do only what we are great at since that is when we will be most fulfilled. The author was attempting to assist readers in creating the type of life they want. I am not sure about you, but if I only did what I was good at, I would still not get much done!
We read in Mark 10 about two disciples, James and John, who had ideas about the kind of life they wanted for themselves. They requested to sit at Jesus’ right and left hands in the kingdom. The other ten disciples were angry with them for asking (perhaps because that was the kind of position they wanted).
But Jesus took advantage of the situation to teach His followers about a different kind of life – one of service to others. It is clear from Jesus’ teachings that serving others is God’s plan for us.
Jesus, the Son of God, came to serve, not to be served. We can be servants and live a fulfilling life if we follow Christ’s example and rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
🙏🏼 Lord, teach us to serve others and to seek fulfilment in You.
